Whew!

Time is flying by! We are already in the 4th week of school! We have completed our review of colors & numbers 1-12, and are beginning our shapes review. Last week we learned all about Noah and the ark and now we are learning about Abraham & Isaac. We are also starting our alphabet this week with letter Aa. Our Aa Bible verse is "A soft answer turns away wrath".

We have read lots of stories like Pete the Cat & his 4 Groovy Buttons, Milo Armadillo, and It Looked Like Spilt Milk. We even got to paint with shaving cream that day - lots of mess but lots of fun!!! We graphed fruit loops last week for color sorting and made a fruit loop rainbow to remind us of God's promise to Noah. We made a circle mouse and a rectangle robot. This week we will make triangle fox and shape scarecrow. Lots of fun with shapes!

This week we are learning our Apple Annie song for letter Aa and will be making applesauce and doing an apple taste-test - yum yum! All in all, it has been a great 4 weeks!

First Week, Done!

What a great first week of 4k! We have been learning about the story of God's Creation, reviewing our numbers & colors, and just having fun getting to know each other. We have read stories, played playdoh, had yummy snacks, played outside & in the gym, & even went to music class! This week, we will continue our Creation story & learn about Adam & Eve, review numbers 6-10, and colors orange, purple, brown, black & pink. Not to mention our favorite time - CENTERS! We love playing in the kitchen, with puzzles, cars & trucks, blocks, & dress-up! I'm excited about another fun-filled week!

Great First Day!

We had a great first day of 4K! We started out by taking a tour of the building & classroom - learning the rules & routines & most importantly, where to find the bathroom! Then we had our morning meeting, where we did the pledges, calendar & weather & Wyn was a great leader. We read the book "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. It's a sweet story about a little raccoon going off to school for the first time.

After PE out on the playground & a yummy snack, we took our first day of school picture. Then we had center time - blocks, puzzles or dry erase boards. During center time I worked with each child individually to make their craft, a painted hand print with a heart in it to remind them of "The Kissing Hand".

Once we were finished with center time, we had time to read one more story - "Tony Baloney, School Rules" by Pam Munoz Ryan.
If you have not read any Tony Baloney books, you seriously need to - they are so cute and funny!

All in all, it was a great first day. I can't wait to see what next week holds!
